Sponsoring MALS Students for Academic Conferences

MALS Enhancement Fund gifts enabled student María Asunción Tudela to travel to Blacksburg, Virginia, to present her paper, “Western Autonomy: A Brief Critique and Its Shortcomings,” at the Virginia Tech 2016 Alliance for Social, Political, Ethical and Cultural Thought (ASPECT) Graduate Conference.

Community Events

Your contributions allow us to host community events such as our recent MALS  Homecoming Panel, “Feast, Famine and Farming: Perspectives on Food in the Modern World.” The event, pictured are right, brought students, alumni and members of the community together to discuss how changes in the modern world have affected food production and our relationship to eating. The panel included Dr. Bob Patterson (at the podium) and seated left to right, alumna Natalie Hampton (’09), MALS Director Michael Garval and advisory board member Dr. Seth Murray.
