Master of Arts in Liberal Studies
The Master of Arts in Liberal Studies degree has become increasingly popular across the country and is now offered by more than 100 universities. In contrast to traditional disciplinary or professional studies, the MALS degree allows you to explore and connect your diverse interests in a personalized way that complements your life and career goals. Our MALS program is a member of the Association of Graduate Liberal Studies Programs, a consortium of universities throughout North America who offer this degree.
Master of Arts in English with a concentration in Film Studies
This 32-hour concentration includes training in writing (screenwriting, film criticism and academic writing), analysis (genre, history and national cinemas) and theory (film theory, literary theory and visual theory). The course array lets you connect your study of literature with film. The program does not include production courses.
Communication, Rhetoric and Digital Media
The Ph.D. program in Communication, Rhetoric and Digital Media prepares doctoral students to analyze the social, cultural, rhetorical, philosophical and political dimensions of information technologies, new communication media and digital texts and to actively engage digital media through research, criticism, production and practice.
Graduate Certificate in Digital Humanities
With a graduate certificate in digital humanities, you can enhance your credentials to pursue academic research, public engagement and professional goals. NC State’s unique program allows degree or non-degree seeking graduate students to design a curriculum of interdisciplinary study at the forefront of digital methods in the humanities. As the digital humanities comprises a big tent of disciplinary and technical pursuits, our graduate certificate affords students a similarly diverse experience of flexible curriculum, interdisciplinary faculty and staff, and world-class research resources and facilities.
