The Interdisciplinary Studies Faculty Council awarded two graduating seniors the honor of being selected as a Bob Patterson Fellow for Spring 2023: Ariana Frazier and Alisa Andrews.

Ariana Frazier graduated as a double major in Africana Studies and Self-Design with a concentration in “Public Health: Health Equity Promotion.” She is originally from a small town in South Carolina and later moved to northern Virginia before pursuing her undergraduate career at NC State. She sang soprano on the Uninhibited Praise Gospel Choir, served as Vice President for the Minority Association of Pre-Health Students and Vice President of the Kappa Omicron Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. One of her faculty nominators wrote, “Ariana is motivated, bright, intellectually curious, hard-working, and committed to social justice issues.” Ariana conducted research both on and off campus with a focus on the health and wellness of minority populations in North Carolina. Ariana plans to continue her education by pursuing a Master of Public Health degree in Maternal, Child, and Family Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
